Athough the gameplay is pretty simplistic at first glance, there's a lot that can be overlooked if you're not aware. Here's 10 tips to help you have the best experience playing Merge Dragons!
1.Merging Five Objects is Better Than Merging Three
You can practically match up any object you lay eyes on. Simple merges that utilize three items may be worth doing at times, but matches of five are super beneficial in the long run. Matching three objects grants you one item, while matching five objects will gift you with a bonus item for your efforts. This process does a better job of leveling up your items at a faster rate. Some of the items that you can merge includes Coins, Stone Bricks, Goal Stars, Dragon Stars, Dragon Gems, Treasure Chests etc.
2.Merge Everything
Pretty much everything in the game can be merged; from dragons, coins and gems, down to the stars you win after beating a goal in a level. Merging always leads to a higher score/grander result, so merge everything you can in the game to see what you can discover and collect!
3.Merge Your Dragons
Birthing Dragons is done by merging three eggs. When you create a Dragon, items come from their creation. Dragons are great for healing random pieces of Dead Land. So here’s the process that results from Dragon crafting – merging three eggs gives you a new Dragon, who in turn gives you an item that can be used for further matching and so on and so on. If you merge dragons, the higher level dragons you get will usually be faster, be able to do more work and be worth more Dragon Power which helps you unlock more land. So it’s worth merging three Dragons in order to create an even more powerful Dragon. While interacting with your Camp, you can also choose to perform some Dragon merging. Just make sure you have three or more Dragons ready for the whole process. Speaking of your Camp, make sure you use Dragon Eggs to help clear out the fog plaguing your land and lend more space to it. You can double-tap an object to quickly send a dragon to harvest from it or simply destroy it, by the way.
When you're at the camp and start hatching new dragon eggs, you'll notice that you will get notifications to merge them on the right hand side. Though it may be tempting to merge them immediately upon seeing the notification, wait until the dragons have used all their stamina (and are heading back to the dragon home) before merging them; the newly merged dragon will have full stamina, and you can use them again to harvest items!
When your dragons wake up, they will have a mind of their own and start harvesting your lowest-level items. Simply drag them to what you want them to harvest, or tap on them to get them stop harvesting. Don't let them waste their energy harvesting something you don't need them to harvest!
4.Create Dead Land Object Matches
You should try and create matches with similar objects on the Dead Land. That object from the Dead Land will be pulled over, which results in that piece of Dead Land instantly getting healed.Each dead space will usually have an item to use to merge. Instead of waiting for the dead space to be healed, you can merge an item with an item in the dead space to heal it automatically. This speeds up the healing process and opens the map much quicker, so that You can get the highest score available.you can match dead objects with live objects. Do this at all times to gradually clear more land.
5.Combine your hearts to create greater hearts.
Each heart that drops heals a specific amount. That is already known. But, as you merge hearts, they gain an extra value. Although it is small, if you continue to combine them, they will heal exponentially faster and in a wider area.The hearts that you end up creating are referred to as Life Essence. There's no need to use the Life Essence you'e given right away since matching them together is a more viable tactic. Pull off a match of three of those items and you'll be gifted with a much more helpful Life Orb.
6.Building Up Your Camp
At this point, you are probably wondering what you’re supposed to do with the items that you get from completing levels. The answer to that is you can use them on your camp. The camp is your headquarters. The place needs a bit of fixing when you first get it but by using the items that you get from the different levels, you can build it up to look the way you want it to. You can also expand the size of your camp by using dragon eggs to drive away the Evil Fog in the surrounding areas. The camp doesn’t really have a purpose but it is a nice addition to the game. It gives the game a bit of town-building and customization on top of everything else.
7.Combine the statues as fast as possible.
As soon as the statues are available to be used, merge them. This will end the mission and open the next area, which will grant you more rewards. Don’t worry about the stars, as they don’t really serve a purpose except to show off a bit. Instead, finishing the stages as fast as possible will grant you more items for your grove.
8.Take Dragon Stars Back to Camp
When you're playing a level and get a purple Dragon Star, don't tap it! Instead, finish the level and bring it back to Camp with you, where you can save it to merge with other Dragon Stars. Merge 3-5 of them, and you'll get a Magnificent Dragon Star, which you can tap 10-12 times for Dragon gems!
9.Level Rewards & Replay Levels
The level rewards will sometimes have some of the items that are left on the map at the end of the level. If you want a better chance of something appearing in the rewards screen, delete the other items.You may not have noticed, but if you replay levels, you can win more prizes! Some of the beginning levels are super easy to do, only require 1 chalice of stamina, and can give you rare rewards like a egg nests (not to mention any coins or bricks you might collect as well!).
10.Keep an Eye Out for Secret Levels
There are secret levels hidden around the world map. Tap around the area on unmarked objects to find them. Of course, you can cheat and find a list of all them here, but I recommend just tapping around and finding them all on your own!
